'Ellen Wilmott' was named after the great gardener and plantswoman who lived at Warley Place in Essex. It has grown there since the 1930s. The fact that it has persisted in horticultural production for over seventy years testifies to the quality of this cultivar. It is a true hardy perennial which will last in the garden for several years through conditions which other erysimums will not tolerate. It has amongst the largest flowers of any erysimum and they are a unique shade of cherry red. |
